Visit western side of namche Bazzer at sunset when the sky is drenched with color and peaks are aglow with rose and purple hues. The Sagarmatha National park headquarters and information center above Namche on the ride to the east (the area is referred to as chorgang ) is a great place to get to know the region. At the very least, you will be rewarded with impressive mountain views from this ride top location, including Everest. The center has information boards with details about the history of the area and its people, flora and funa, mountaineering and geology. It is closed Saturday and public holidays but otherwise open from 8 AM to 4 PM. {In the area near by the park headquarters is a Sherpa cultural Museum and Everest, climbing history with an interesting section on climbers, too.

Namche’s famous weekly market, held on Friday and Saturday at the southern end of town, is a lively affair. The weekly Merket is not of Sherpa origin but actually started in the 1960’s by an Nepal army officer In Namche. It was established to meet the demand of an inflow of Nepali civil servants sent there when the Panchatyat hierarchical system of governance, replaced a centuries old self-rule in the region. There is another daily market Near the large chorten at the south end of Namche.
